Happy 5 Months Maddox!

I cannot believe I have a five month old!! Where is the time going!?  Maddox is starting to work on sitting up on his own... he falls over pretty quickly right now!;)  He has great head control.  He is able to roll over from belly to back and back to belly.  I think he is starting to get some teeth because he has been a drooling, fussy mess lately!  He wears 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.  When he is not upset about the possible teeth poking through his gums, he is such a happy baby!  We love his sweet smiles!  They are contagious!  We love you, Mad Man!

Easter Fun!

Zander has been able to participate in two Easter Egg hunts this year!  He gets so excited to see if there is candy in the eggs.  We went to our Sunday School cookout and the kids were able to hunt for eggs afterwards.  It was so cold!  You can see Zack and Maddox bundled up in the background of the second picture.  We had a blast though!  Zander also had a hunt with his classmates at school.  One of my co-workers made both boys matching Easter baskets with their names personalized on them.  It will be fun to use these in the years to come especially when Maddox is old enough to enjoy looking for eggs as well!

My mom was able to capture a special morning this week where I was able to read with both my boys before heading off to work.  It is not often that I am able to enjoy some quality time with both boys on my lap, cuddled up in a good book.  I feel like I need to make more time for moments like this... it is so special to them both in my arms!

Getting Caught Up!

We had some visitors last Sunday..... Grannie and GranDan!  We were able to get some extra hugs and read Zander's favorite book that Grannie got him right after Maddox was born!

I went to a friend's house to watch the Bachelor finale!  My friend, Laura, even got us roses for the occasion!  I have made some awesome friends at work over the past 6.5 years I have been at my current school.  They make the work week so much more enjoyable!

Zander got to wear his Hulk jacket for St. Patty's Day!  We got to send PawPaw a birthday video since he shares a birthday with this colorful holiday!

Reading Week

We had reading week at my school this past week... you know... "jump into bed with a good book" (a.k.a. wear your pajamas to school).  Here is a picture of me for Workout Wednesday (Reading works your brain!) and some pictures of book character day!  I was the Cat in the Hat and I had my boys with me for a couple pictures!

Zander is feeling better after having the flu and Maddox continues to be very pleasant! I think he might be getting some teeth soon judging by everything he puts in his mouth.... so I am trying to take as many pictures as possible of that gummy grin!

Maddox has started to really roll a lot lately.  He had rolled from his belly to back a few times prior to this weekend and now has decided to roll completely from his back to his belly (even got his arm unstuck from underneath him)!  He was keeping me company while I was on the computer earlier today and he fell asleep with his thumb in his mouth mid roll!  Maddox gave me approximately one week of uninterrupted sleep at night.... he has gone back to waking up for a feeding or two during the night.  Maybe now that he has discovered he can sleep on his tummy, mommy might get a few extra hours of rest?!  Stay tuned!;)

This Day... One Year Ago!

On this day one year ago.... I found out I was going to be a mama of two!  I nervously took the pregnancy test at 4:30 a.m. hoping it was positive and knowing that mornings were the best time to get an accurate result.  I was shaking and shocked when I saw the two pink lines!  I already knew in my heart it was going to be another boy.  God had given me a peace and excitement about being a mama of boys before my first one arrived on April 21st two years earlier so as the months went by and we were able to find out the gender of #2.... I was not at all surprised when I heard "Its a Boy!"  I absolutely love my two boys so much and this mama wouldn't have it any other way!  There is never a dull moment and lots of sleepless ones but my heart loves these boys so much that those two pink lines I saw on March 5, 2015 were just the beginning of this crazy, amazing journey as a family of four (ok... five with our favorite pup, Burke!)  When Maddox arrived on October 26th last year, I just sat and looked at my little family and felt like we had created a home.  I will never forget this day (March 5th) as long as I live because it meant we were going to have our sweet Maddox in a few short months and life would never be the same!  Here are some pictures from our week before the flu hit the Houston household.  Zander tested positive for the flu on Tuesday and has been going back and forth with a 102-103 fever since then.  We are trying our hardest to ensure Maddox doesn't get it!  It has been a group effort with daddy, Grammy and Grandpa working around the clock!  I took a day and a half off from work and finally Grammy is getting a little time to relax this weekend after the crazy week.  Pray Zander starts to feel better..... it breaks a mama's heart to see her child in pain and not be able to fix it.  Pray that Maddox stays healthy.  I can't wait to have our little family back together again cuddling in the same room rather than having to keep our distance!

Maddox at his 4 month checkup! We fit in some four months shots this week too so he was somewhat fussy after this!  He weighed 16 lbs 5.5 oz!  That is almost 3 pounds more than Zander weighed at this point!
