We have had a wonderful week celebrating Zander's 4th birthday!! I can't believe he is FOUR! Some of my favorite things about his current age right now are.... 1.) He likes to say "I have an idea....." (followed by some "great" idea of something we should do at that moment. 2.) He will say "And then what are we going to do?.... he is curious about the sequence of events within a day or week. (We are still working on the days of the week because he doesn't have the concept of days, weeks, months or years yet!;)) 3.) I love how he consistently leaves out thirteen and fifteen when he is counting..... he has the concept of counting to thirty but those two numbers are always left out! 4.) I love how he can tell you what some words start with and is starting to really get the whole concept of phonemic awareness where he can hear words and tell you the first letter sound and then the corresponding letter. 5.) I love his hugs... he loves to cuddle right before bed or when he first wakes up. On Saturdays, he will come to our room to see if he can cuddle with us and watch some TV. ;) 6.) I love how he plays with his younger brother and how his younger brother is pretty much his shadow! 7.) I love how he uses his manners and says his bible verses each week. 8.) I love that he asked for a dustpan for his birthday so he can help mommy clean. 9.) I love how he asked for gum for his birthday and was so excited to start chewing that first piece.... until he swallowed it 10 chews later! 10.) And I love that this little boy made me a mommy four years ago and I couldn't be more proud of the little man he is becoming!
We celebrated his birthday on Friday...... I took the boys out to breakfast before school/work and then we celebrated with Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Lindsey, Uncle Boomer, Emerson, Aunt A and Uncle Jay Friday evening. We went to a local restaurant and had some yummy cupcakes. On Saturday, we went back to the same local park we have visited the last two years and had a great time!! It was sunny and in the 70s... a perfect morning to be at the park! We had all the people above there and some other favorites..... Grannie, Granny V, PawPaw, Great Grandpa and Great Grandma, Aunt Kelly, the Williams family, the White family and Liz and Jacob! We ate yummy breakfast foods and of course, cake! Zander, Grannie and Daddy went for a paddle boat ride and Zander tested out some of his new toys including a fishing pole from Aunt Kelly, a phone from Uncle Grant, binoculars and adventure vest from Aunt A and Uncle Jay, a scooter from Grannie and a golf club from Grammy and Grandpa. Maddox loved getting gifts as well.... our family and friends spoil these boys! Here are some pictures from our week of fun!
Zander had some more cake after dinner on Saturday night and we loved having Aunt A and Uncle Jay with us all weekend!!
