I CANNOT believe that Maddox is already a year old!! When did this happen?! We enjoyed a cookout on Saturday in honor of this big milestone! We embraced the Mickey Mouse theme since our family was able to head south to Disney World during Maddox's first year (at the 5 month mark to be exact). Family and friends came together to celebrate the big day! Maddox enjoyed his milk and egg free cake while the bottom layer was made with all the things Maddox can't have... sorry buddy! It was so incredible how everyone helped make the day a success. Aunt A and Uncle Jay came a day early and helped with all the set up preparations. Family members entertained the boys throughout the festivities. Our grill stopped working and Kerith and Chris jumped in to help fix it... can't really have a cookout without a grill so we used our griddles for the burgers and boiled the hot dogs on the stove top! My dad and sis helped with all the outdoor cleanup and my mom and sis helped with cleaning all the dishes afterward... and yes my sister is days away from giving birth... and still looks so cute! Uncle Boom got in some practice with the boys and kept them entertained as well! Our best friends, the Badens, came all the way from the other side of Asheville to help us celebrate! Lydia and Maddox are exactly two weeks apart so it is so fun to celebrate these fall birthdays. The Williams and the Whites also helped entertain our kiddos in the "kid room" that Zack had set up so that they could get their energy out! (I forgot to take pictures of the kids playing...oops!)
Dear Maddox,
You have been such a blessing to our family and when you arrived at 8:14 p.m. on your birthday, I knew our family was complete. You have the most incredible smile and laugh! People everywhere we go... at school, at church, at the grocery store.... say I should videotape your laugh since it makes them feel happy to hear you. You have always been a good eater (from moments after you were born). You didn't really master the whole sleeping thing until about the 7 month mark... I just think you wanted more food and time with mommy. You love crawling everywhere and are starting to "walk" while holding onto something that moves. You can say "dada" and "ball". You are in 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. You feel so cuddly in the morning after you first wake up and I love when I pick you up from school that you crawl right over to me and fall in my arms. You truly love your big brother.... you love giving him kisses and hugs. You have started doing this pretend cry that is hilarious where you throw yourself on the ground as you have "fake tears". You have your daddy's and your brother's eyes and I can't wait to see you grow up! God knew I needed to be your mommy and I thank Him every day for this opportunity and the life we have.... here's to many more birthdays shared together! Love you Mad Man/Chunky Monkey! Thank you for being YOU!
Love, Mommy
