Last weekend, we took advantage of the Labor Day holiday and headed to visit one of my very best friends. Lindsey is the first friend I met when I moved to North Carolina and this fall marks thirty years of friendship! I am so thankful that our kids had the day to play and get to know each other better. Lindsey has traveled to various other towns and states and now lives about an hour and a half from us! We planned many outdoor activities (fishing in the lake, baseball in the backyard, feeding the chickens and seeing the goats, and going out on their boat). Most activities had to be cancelled due to the rain that came down most of the day but at about 4:00 p.m., Eric said it was time to take out the boat! The kids enjoyed about two hours of tubing and swimming before we had to make our way back home to start the school and work week! I am so very thankful for days like these where I can catch up with someone who has known me most of my life, someone who has seen me at my best and my worst, and someone who cares for me and my family as much as she does! My boys are already asking when we can go back to their house!
These sweet cousins are now toothless twins! I love the friendship they are developing!! I can't wait to see them as they grow older together! Family does make the best of friends!
I love our morning drives to school. We listen to our kid's Christmas program soundtrack to memorize all the words, say a prayer before walking into school and I have three little ducklings that follow me to my office where they entertain themselves until the bell rings. It might be my favorite part of the day!:)
This weekend we were able to celebrate Aunt Kelly (one of my very best friends that has received the honorary "aunt" title)! She does so much for our family: helping with birthday parties over the years, cheering on our boys at sporting events and inviting us to really cool functions her job gets tickets to! It was so much fun to celebrate her upcoming wedding and truly spoil her when she is the one that always spoils us so much! The boys are pretty excited to be helping out in the wedding in about a month, and I am so honored she chose me as one of her bridesmaids. We had a bridal tea on Saturday where we dressed up and played some fun wedding themed games. We moved the "after party" (a.k.a. the bachelorette party) to Kelly's sister's house for an evening of fun, food and drinks (think slumber party for adults)! I have included the tame pictures from our weekend as all other activities that night should be kept between the ten ladies that celebrated Kelly's final days as a bachelorette!
