We have had a busy start to the school year with activities most evenings and on the weekends! We've all needed a day to rest and relax with no commitments....a day to be lazy and spend time as a family. Due to Hurricane Ian making its way up from Florida with winds up to 60 mph reaching our area on Friday, we were able to have two days at home! Daddy had to work Friday but our schools were closed in anticipation of the high winds and hazardous driving conditions. This meant that the boys and I had a day in our comfy clothes, playing many board games, eating ice cream sundaes and popcorn while watching Dude Perfect and even fitting in an hour rest time! I think Burke enjoyed having us around too! On Saturday, daddy joined us at the house for some additional relaxation. I did fit in my weekly run with my sister in the morning but other than that, we stayed home and enjoyed time in our house with the people we love! We were supposed to have two soccer games today but the weather didn't cooperate for outdoor activities!
Also this week, Zander has decided to run for student council vice president. The elections will be at the end of October but Grandpa and Grammy helped him work on his campaign posters one day after school. Grandpa made sure Z had a cool picture to go on each poster while Grammy cut out letters to clearly show who everyone should vote for. Zander is super excited about this opportunity, and I am equally excited to watch him in a leadership role as one of his class representatives (which makes him eligible to run for an officer position). Win or lose, I love that he had time with his grandparents working on something that he is passionate about! Stay tuned for the results.....
Maddox needs a shoutout as well in this post. He is rocking it on the soccer field (scoring many goals at each game), at home (being as cute as he can be in his Halloween costume which he likes to wear to bed as often as possible), at school (where he is in the highest reading group in his class and continues to get great reports from his teacher) and at church (where he is learning many verses and was asked to help hold the American flag at last week's pledge ceremony). I cannot believe our baby boy will be seven years old this month! He apparently has gotten to the age where he has the girls liking him! One little girl gave him two bracelets and a letter just because last week at church! I don't think I'm ready for this yet! haha
