Happy Thanksgiving from the Houstons!

We celebrated on Thursday with the Cantrells in Charlotte!  The boys love hanging out with their cousins and a great time was had by all!

On Saturday, we hosted Thanksgiving for the Bakewells.  Zack tackled the turkey as he always does and decided to deep fry the turkey like he has done the last few years.  We had quite a spread of food and the company was enjoyable too! ;)
Last weekend, we went back home to celebrate Grannie's 70th birthday!  We also got to see Granny V and PawPaw.  Playing ping pong is always a request when we go to their house!  Maddox enjoyed getting a hot chocolate while we grabbed the last few things for Grannie's birthday celebration.  I love this picture of him!  As you can see from the pictures below, we embraced the 70th birthday with themed paper products and cookie desserts that a friend of mine made for the occasion.  It was a fun day with family!

We continue to be in the Christmas spirit.... I now have twinkle lights for my car when we are driving at night!
Maddox somehow got locked in the dog crate one day!  Thank goodness he is cute!  It is easy to see that he has a brother that helps him get into trouble sometimes!;)
We celebrated Thanksgiving at school prior to our break we had at the end of this week.  We had a balloon parade and found turkey themed hats and photo booth opportunities throughout our school.  Maddox also brought home his first BRIGHT award for the year due to his good behavior and academic excellence!
We were able to play at the track two days over our Thanksgiving break.  We really enjoyed a leisurely few days at home which were needed after the busy fall season we had!

Celebrating all the things!

It is a fun time of year where there is lots to celebrate!  Before I get to all the fun things we have been up to..... here are our school pictures for the year..... I love that the photographer will let me take a picture with my boys.... its hard to believe I only have one more year where both boys will be with me at the same school!

Here is Maddox's 1st grade picture!
Here is Zander's 4th grade picture!
We had Word Week at school.  Each day we celebrated how we can use words.  The first picture was Wacky Tacky Word Day where the boys represented idioms.  Maddox "let the cat out of the bag"! ;)  Zander is "giving you the cold shoulder"! ;)
On Friday of Word Week, we had a Word in Action parade.  The boys represented the word "competitive" with their soccer uniforms, dressed and ready for their games that evening!
Our admin. team demonstrated the word "rival" with our SEC gear! ;)
The boys ended their soccer season a week ago.  It was fun celebrating these teams with sweet treats at the end of their last game!  Zack enjoyed coaching with two of our friends.  It was a great season for both boys!  They had fun, learned a lot and scored a ton of goals!
I celebrated my right to vote at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th.  I was back at the house in time to take the boys and Emerson to school!
We used Zack's car one day last week while I had my car in the shop.  It was fun to see these cousins loaded down in the back seat!
We celebrated the 50th day of school... dressed in our 50s attire!
I got to see Emerson on her birthday.... tons to celebrate that day! :)  Emerson turned 6 and Burke turned 13 on the same day so we spoiled our four-legged son as much as we spoiled our niece!

Since Emerson and Eli have birthdays within 8 days of each other, we took our annual trip to the zoo last weekend to celebrate their special days!

We took advantage of the Veteran's Day holiday to set up our Christmas trees!  I decorated on the inside while Zack tackled the big tree outside!

We still have our fall/Thanksgiving décor up since we didn't want to skip over one of our other favorite holidays!  The boys just watched their first Christmas movie of the season tonight!

Maddox had strep throat last weekend which meant extra cuddles with mommy and Burke.  He also got to spend Monday with me while brother went to school. We enjoyed playing board games and taking it easy as Maddox was able to recover.  Please continue to pray for Maddox as he has developed a drug-related allergic reaction to the medicine he was on this past week.  He still has a hive like rash throughout his whole body.  He is incredibly tough!  I continue to be amazed at how he perseveres through challenging situations!
Zander got to hold the flag during the pledge ceremony at AWANA on Sunday night... why does he look so grown up?!
