Summer Break 2022: Week Six

We made our way back from the beach last weekend and got back into our summer routine at our house for a couple more weeks!  Zander was excited to find a shark tooth on our last day at the beach and he proudly wanted everyone to know what he found.  He insisted I take a couple pictures so I figured I should add them to the blog!  We also accidently brought home a hermit grab in a conch shell that Zander picked up on Thursday when we were kayaking.  Somehow "Harry" the hermit crab stayed in his shell in the car from Thursday through Saturday.  During rest time on Saturday while Zander was reading in his room, Harry tried to make his escape.  He moved the conch shell from Zander's bedside table and started making his way across Z's carpeted floor!  As you can imagine, Zander was somewhat freaked out by the whole thing!  We tried to keep Harry alive for a few days and even made plans to have a friend take him back to his original home but sadly he was not able to make it in a different ecosystem.  I still think it makes for a crazy story!

This week, Maddox lost his first tooth the "old-fashioned way".  He was so excited and quickly remarked that it didn't hurt nearly as bad as the other four being extracted!

We fit in our annual camping trip in the backyard on Monday night!  We might not have had the best night sleep but I'd like to think that memories were made!
We met up with the Williamses and Kennedys on Tuesday at a local park.  Josh gave both boys a ride on his motorcycle.... around the parking lot!

Zander went to his first sleepaway camp with our church on Wednesday through Friday this week.  He loved hanging out with his friends, enjoying all the fun activities Mr. Tim had planned and growing closer to God!

Maddox enjoyed being an only child for a couple days!  Daddy and I took him out to Olive Garden for dinner one night.  We also went to the science center with Aunt Kelly and her nieces.  We finished off our time together with an ice cream treat at Coldstone after swimming at the YMCA pool.

On Friday morning, the Kennedy kids joined us for the weekend!  Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Boomer were going out of town and we thought it would be fun to have the cousins spend some time together.  We went to a splash pad during the day on Friday before Zander got home from camp.  Friday night, we had popcorn and watched a show before bed.
As you can see, we had fun at the house on Saturday!
Uncle Zack/Daddy was in charge of breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning and somehow we made it to church with four happy kiddos!  I think the cousins had a fun weekend together!

Summer Break 2022: Week Five

The Houstons went with the Bakewells and Kennedys for our annual trip to Ocean Isle Beach!  We started out the week by having a swim in the pool, walking to the beach and taking a trip to the grocery store to grab all the essentials for 10 people for a week at the beach!  We have perfected our grocery shopping over the years and can knock out this mammoth task in less than an hour! We grabbed pizza at Dominos right next door and had dinner and the groceries for the week by about 7:30 p.m.!
We stopped for lunch at Ocean Isle Fish Company prior to checking into our house and meeting up with the rest of the family.  I got the lobster and shrimp nachos which were delicious and Maddox and I enjoyed taking selfies while we waited for our food!
Every year I have to take some annual pictures to document how the boys have grown over the years.  I am still in shock that this was the 10th year of Bakewell Beach trips since we became parents.... enjoy the documentation from the last decade! :)

2022
We grabbed our annual group picture on Sunday night at Inlet View.  It was the perfect weather and we all had a great first day at the beach and pool earlier in the day.  Linds remarked it was the perfect vacation day and I would have to agree!

Zack grilled hamburgers and hot dogs on Monday night.  It was delicious with vegetable skewers using veggies from our garden!  Linds and Boom cooked tacos on Tuesday night! Both dinners were perfect for our group of 10!

We had a pretty great set up for the beach each day.... check out our little patch of paradise! :)
On Wednesday, we went to play putt-putt!! Zander challenged Grandpa to see who could win on the 18 holes!  Grandpa beat all of us, but I have to mention that mommy held on to the lead or a tie until the last two holes... then I choked! haha

We also fit in some reading time, tablet/TV time and making our own beach pudding while at the house!  We have enjoyed keeping four active kids busy outside and inside all week!

On Wednesday night, we made our way to Dockside.  Maddox requested gel in his hair!  After dinner, we went for our annual trip to the arcade and walk on the pier.

On Thursday, we rented a kayak and explored the inlet.  Maddox opted to join the rest of the family at the beach while Zander, Zack and I went out on the kayak for a couple hours!  We had a lot of fun with our first-born!  It was really windy that day so daddy got a great arm workout paddling us around!
Grandpa splurged and got the three grand kids Italian ice while we were kayaking.

On Friday, we enjoyed our last beach day!  Grammy took the three oldest kids for a marsh walk with Linds and I had our final beach run! Then, we went to the beach for a few hours where we were able to jump the waves, take a beach walk and eat one last sandy picnic lunch.  Zander even found a shark tooth! Grandpa got all four grand kids one last Italian ice while on the beach (something that Linds and I never got when we were growing up.... grand kids really are spoiled! haha)  We swam in the pool for a little bit before it started to rain.  We ordered take out from Ocean Isle Fish Company and enjoyed a nice dinner at our beach house while an afternoon thunderstorm came through!  It was a great last day at the beach!

Until next year......
