Happy 3 Months, Maddox!

Our little guy is doing really well holding his head up on his own! We have gotten the bumbo seat out and he likes sitting up like a big boy (Don't say "big boy" around Zander though..... Zander will correct you quickly and clarify that Maddox is the baby and Zander is the big boy!)  Maddox is in size 2 diapers, 3-6 month clothes and eats every 2-3 hours.  He continues to get up 1-3 times a night for feedings.  He is always happy (unless he is hungry or tired).  He has discovered his thumb and might be sucking it for awhile!  He also loves his swing and the rain forest he can lay under.  He is starting to use his hands to move objects.  His hair is growing in as a dark brown color.  He likes to try to stand up on his legs (he is very strong!)  We love you, Maddox!

Science Center Fun!

First, a few more snow day pictures!.... Zander is in love with play-doh right now!  We are using it to practice his numbers while the snow melts outside! ;)  Who knew learning could be so fun?!  We also made the trek to mom and dad's house so Zander could go sledding with his Grammy and Grandpa! Zack was in Orlando for work so it was nice to have the extra hands with the kids this week!

I decided the last outing before I head back to work would be the local science center.  They have added an aquarium that I wanted to check out.  Unfortunately, the zoo was closed due to the winter weather so that just means we will have to make a trip this summer to see it all!  I think a yearly membership will be a must when the kids are older!  Grammy went with me for the day.... which was a HUGE help!! She hung out with Zander as they listened to a diver in the shark tank while I found a bench to feed Maddox!  Zander does really good following directions but I never know if he will start to wander to a new exhibit while I am feeding his brother.  This way, he could keep exploring while Maddox had his morning snack! ;)  We saw penguins, otters, sting rays, sharks, octopuses, many amphibians and reptiles (in the zoo part that was still open) and Zander even touched a tarantula, snake and turtle while we were at the center.  He had a blast and we will definitely be making a trip there this summer!

Below is what happens when you pick Zander up from school and they are playing with play-doh!  He didn't want to leave!  Maybe a "terrible two" moment!?  I am glad he likes his school and his friends.... it makes it easier to be back at work next week!  On the other hand, the drive home was not so pleasant!
Maddox was excited to see that Daddy was home last night!
And you can see his hair is really growing!  It is coming in a lot darker than his brother's did!

Snow Fun!

We have had another fun week trying to enjoy the time we have together before mommy heads back to work! First, I tried to document Maddox's first snow (which came on Sunday, January 17th) and was here and gone by the time we got home from church!  Can you see the slush that was left over in the first two pictures?  Then, we were able to visit with one of my very best friends, Lindsey!  She has recently moved to Texas so we don't get to see each other as often.  It was so special having her oldest, Ellie, hold my youngest!  I can't believe we have kids!! Seems like yesterday we were playing in her backyard or at my house.  On Thursday, we went to the public library with Zander's buddy, Luke, for some music and movement (something we normally only do in the summer time).  Also, Zander has shown a new fascination with my mom's piano..... it will be interesting to see if he wants to take lessons.  I unfortunately was not a fan of the piano after years of practice and lessons.  He would make my Grandpa Woody especially proud if he took on this skill. I know Grandpa would be smiling from heaven!  Finally, we were able to enjoy a couple snow days!  As I am typing this, we are continuing to get a snow/ice accumulation so we might get to enjoy a little bit more white stuff before the weekend is over!  All Zander wanted to do with the snow is make a snowman!  However, this was not the best snow for such an activity.  As you will be able to see in a picture or two below, we did the best we could with the limited accumulation and the powdery snow we were given before the sleet came falling from the sky.  It has been another amazing week with my boys!!

Maddox found his thumb this past week.... he enjoys sucking on it when he is tired or hungry.... he doesn't do it all the time but seems to enjoy this new discovery a whole lot!  Zander even helps him find his thumb sometimes! ;)

Children's Museum Fun!

We had a really fun week!! We went to dinner with one of my best friends, Kelly.  I got to have dinner with another close friend.... just the two of us mommies on another night.  Finally, I took my boys to the local children's museum on Friday.  I am trying to do some fun outings with both boys before I head back to work in two weeks.  It is fun to take them places during the week when it is not as crowded.  It also is great practice for me trying to get both boys out the door and plan for while we are away from home.  We ate lunches I packed while at the museum, and I was even able to nurse Maddox while Zander was enjoying story time!  It was so much fun to throw "snowballs" with Zander and or purchase "groceries" at the store that the museum has set up.  It was equally enjoyable to watch Maddox take a morning nap while we were out and about.  The boys did an awesome job!  Here are some pictures from our week!

Zander is in the background in the picture above trying to find a book to read while I change his brother's diaper after story time.

Very smart kid...... he couldn't reach to climb in the outdoor play area so he moved a block over to help him out!

Burke could lay anywhere in our house.... but usually prefers cuddling up in one of the boys' blankets!
