Summer Break: Week 5

Warning:  This post contains A LOT of pictures!  The Bakewell Beach Trip was this past week and I always love our annual trek east to enjoy some sun and some time with family.  For the past two summers, we have added a new family member each time!  We started this yearly tradition when Zander was just three months old so he just finished up his FIFTH beach trip with us!  We remarked throughout the week that it has gotten a little harder each year as we have added kids and their schedules but we were able to enjoy dinner together every evening and make a daily trip to the beach to watch the kids and adults in the waves!  Here are some pictures from our week!
First, we headed down early so we could beat the traffic.  Fortunately, we didn't run into any problems but we had to find something to do for a few hours until our house was ready so we entertained the boys at a local park and grabbed some ice cream.  The Kennedys went to visit Uncle Kyle so they timed their arrival pretty perfectly to when the house was available.

Zander was ready to get in the water as soon as we arrived!  So we took the kids to the ocean to splash around before dinner.  Maddox was hesitant at first but by the second day (and Grandpa's help), he bravely walked down to the water and enjoyed the small waves!  (He is still not a huge fan of the sand as he walks to the water but he powered through it!)

Our daily schedule involved a morning run (for mommy and daddy...see a couple pictures below) and then getting the kids lathered up in sunscreen and heading to the beach around 9:00 or 10:00.  We would stay for a couple hours and then head inside for lunch and naps.  Fortunately both boys still take naps and were definitely ready to lay down by the time we got their baths and lunches out of the way.  After naps, we would get ready for dinner.  Each couple took a turn cooking and then we ate out three nights.  We went to Inlet View, Dockside and Twin Lakes.  As you can see below.... we clean up nicely! ;)

Zack and I went to the movies on Tuesday to see the new Spiderman movie.  We lucked out since it was "Tightwad" Tuesday.... movie tickets were $6 and a medium popcorn was $2.50!  (I'm a cheap date!)

One night we took the boys to the pier and for ice cream.  Zander loved "walking over the waves" as he referred to it.

And now for a few comparison pictures..... 5 years and counting......

Until next year....
