Summer Break: Week 5

To start things off.... we have had a pretty leisurely week!  I picked up Burke from doggie daycare after we got back from the beach.... as you can see below... he was really worn out!  He fell asleep on the way home with his head up.  Burke has been dealing with some back/foot sensitivity for a few weeks now, and Zack took him to the vet to see what was going on.  It turns out he appears to have a slipped disc which means we need to limit his activity level (especially jumping and stairs) to see if the problem corrects itself.  He will go back this upcoming Friday for a follow up X-ray, etc.  If things have not improved, our pup might be going to a neurologist for further evaluation and a plan of action.  Please pray for our four-legged son as we are worried about him and his pain.  Zander has tried to be extra nice to him.  Unfortunately, we have had to cut out walks around the neighborhood which both boys do not like at all! So we have played a lot in the yard and driveway.  

This week, I was able to meet two of my friends from work for breakfast and then we went to a local consignment sale.  I got a few zip-up sleepers for "Thunderbird" and a pair of dress shoes for Zander that I hope still fit in September for Aunt A's wedding!  The following day, I cleaned the house during Zander's naptime (fun times for mommy and her pregnant belly!)  Once Zander woke up, we headed over to my friend, Anna's, to hang out at the pool with her three kids.  Zander loves "swimmin'" in the kiddie pool, and I think we will be shopping around for a pool membership next summer!  On Wednesday, Zander and I went on our second mommy-son movie date to see "Shrek".  Zander did awesome through the whole movie (sat on my lap the whole time) and just had me cover his eyes when the dragon appeared or when Shrek was not acting so nice.  It has been a fun way to get out of the heat and spend time with my little guy.  Thursday, we went to Music and Movement at the library with Zander's friend, Luke.  Zander is starting to practice his big brother skills as he was showing Luke how to dance around to the music..... he reached for Luke's hands.... unprompted by either mom! 

Friday, we spent the morning with Bri and Seph.... and that was another fun playdate!  We were able to meet up with Chris and Zack for lunch which made the day even better!  It has been great to hang out with all of our friends before starting back to work.  Zander continues to do great with potty training.  He no longer wears a diaper for naptime and so far has only had one accident during his nap.  Hope this trend continues when he is back at "school".  I hope to use this picture as bribery one day when he is older! ;)

 Zack and I were able to have an awesome weekend to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary thanks to Grammy and Grandpa Buzz!  We started off the weekend with a Dash baseball game Friday night which also was an alumni event for Zack's college.  During the game, we had the best view of the blue moon (the second full moon of the month) between two of the stadium lights (can you see it below?!)

On Saturday, we headed up to Boone for the afternoon and evening!  We had delicious food and enjoyed each other's company without any two-year old interruptions! It was so fun getting away for the night!
